  • The Film

When it was released in 1987, The Monster Squad was deemed a failure by critics and was, according to the box office, a film no one cared about. But over the last three decades, word of mouth has turned this sleeping hit into a cultural phenomenon.

WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS explores the relationship a dedicated audience (including celebrities and filmmakers) has with The Monster Squad. This documentary takes an in-depth look into the film’s conception, response, cult status, and revival. Through interviews with the cast, crew, screenwriters, directors, academics and original reviewers as well as through never-before-seen footage, it turns the lens on an audience of self-proclaimed misfits who have kept The Monster Squad alive for more than thirty years.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2020 – Gravitas Ventures has acquired Wolfman’s Got Nards! Gravtias Features, a Red Arrow Studios company, has acquired North American rights to distribute the film.

Slated for VOD and Blu Ray release, October 27, 2020!

  • The Buzz

    bmd

“Although its success was never carved in stone, it seems a passion from fans that would span decades and generations was written in the stars. That deep adoration has been documented in Wolfman’s Got Nards.”

    bmd

“More than 30 years later, The Monster Squad keeps gaining fans in large part because the fans who already love the movie just won’t stop sharing the good word with their friends.”

    bmd

“I think the heart and the authenticity of Fred and Shane’s script, and what Fred put on screen, ultimately connected with these kids and/or young adults whenever they saw it”

    bmd

“A cult classic and its fanbase get the documentary they deserve”

    dailygrindhouse

“I will make the bold claim that WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS might have even knocked out BEST WORST MOVIE as my favorite cult film documentary.”

    dreadcentral

“As a whole, I cannot recommend Wolfman’s Got Nards enough for those who love The Monster Squad, for fans of the horror genre, or even for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood by the world at large.”

    Film School Rejects

“Wolfman’s Got Nards not only chronicles that surprise journey for the filmmakers and cast but it explores the fans’ point of view as well. In digging into the passion that fuels fanaticism, director André Gower and producer Henry McComas elevate Wolfman’s Got Nards from your basic Blu-ray special feature and into a heartfelt celebration of pop culture”

    Goomba Stomp

“…the documentary serves as an insightful and entertaining look at a devout following in which the fans come from all walks of life, from all around the world, with the only true common denominator being their enthusiasm and love of movies.”

He later enrolled in programs at King Career Center, the highly acclaimed New York Film Academy, the Art Institute of Seattle and the University of Washington. This eventually lead to the creation of McComas’s award-winning video production company, Crooked Lake Productions. His work includes features, numerous short films, and digital/TV series. McComas currently works at Pilgrim Media Group in Los Angeles, California.
